About Pakka Pul

Red bridge/Lal Pul of Lucknow city of Uttar Pradesh, also known as 'Pakka Pul'. The bridge was completed on January 10, 1914. This bridge has been built for 100 years. After breaking the old Shahi bridge built by Nawab Asaf-ud-Daula of Awadh in 1911, the British officers handed over this bridge to the people of Lucknow by making this bridge.

History of Pakka Pul

Dr. Yogesh Praveen says that in the place of the Pakka Pul was the first stone bridge, which was called the Shahi bridge. This was called the Royal Bridge because Begum Shamsun of Toll Tax Nawab Asaf-ud-Daula was able to cross the bridge. When the Britishers took charge of Awadh after 1857, they termed the bridge as weak, because they believed that the army, the guns have become weak since the arrival of the guns. Then the British decided to break it. The old bridge was broken in 1911 and along with that the foundation of the new bridge was laid. Lord Hudding inaugurated it on January 10, 1914. Since it was reddish in color, it is also known as Red Bridge or Pakka Bridge.

Facts about Pakka Pul

Lord Hudding made arrangements for observing Gomti river from the bridge that was considered the largest bridge of that time. Officers and engineers built 6-6 carved attic (balcony) on both sides of the bridge here. Build huge artistic columns of about 10 meters height on both sides of the bridge. Historian Dr. Yogesh Pravin says that this masterpiece of the British is also unique in the sense that even today its texture is unique. It is artistically strong.

Today Construction

This historic pakka pul built by the P.W.D. contractor Guruprasad and a team of several British officers. H.S. Wimbledon and R.J. Powell Both Engineer, Major SDA Crookshank, A.C. Warriors and Capt J.A. Graeme was the three executive engineer While C.F. Hunter and S.C. Edgarbill was an assistant engineer at the time of the construction of the bridge. This bridge was built in place of the old royal bridge made in the time of Nawab Wazir Asaf-ud-Daula of Awadh.

Contribution to cinema

In Lucknow, there is a strong bridge for the shoots. Sunny Deol starring Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, is filmed on the ground till a fun scene. Apart from this, many scenes were filmed around Yash Raj Banner's film, Dawat-e-Ishq, recently shot in the city. In many films and TV serials, Rumi Darwas in places showing the identity of Lucknow, this belt is followed after the clutches.
