Jollygrant Airport, also known as Dehradun Airport, has recently undergone an upgrade by the Airport Authority of India (AAI). The upgrade involved elevating the airport’s status from Label 3 to Label 2. This upgrade was prompted by the significant rise in the number of air passengers recorded at Dehradun Airport over the past year. The elevation to Label 2 signifies an enhanced infrastructure and improved facilities at the airport, allowing it to better cater to the increasing number of travelers.
The capacity of the terminal will be 36.50 lakh passengers per year.
The construction of the new terminal at Dehradun Airport is progressing rapidly, with 90 percent of the work already completed. Once finished, the new terminal will be ten times larger than the previous one, significantly expanding its capacity. The new terminal will have the capacity to handle 36.50 lacks (3.65 million) passengers per year, a significant increase from the old terminal’s capacity of five to six lakh (0.5 to 0.6 million) passengers per year. The total space within the new terminal will cover 42 thousand square meters, providing ample room for various facilities and services.
