Kedarnath Dham: Pilgrims will get the facility of an electric vehicle, know how far they will be able to travel
Summary
In an effort to enhance accessibility to the Kedarnath temple, a comprehensive plan has been devised to introduce electric vehicles in the area. This initiative aims to provide convenient transportation options for elderly individuals, children, women, and devotees with disabilities. By operating electric vehicles, the temple management seeks to ensure that all devotees can easily access the sacred site, regardless of physical limitations.
Expansion
The temple authorities have announced their plans to introduce electric vehicles for pilgrims. These vehicles will be tested at the Dham once the second phase of reconstruction is finished. The electric vehicles will operate from the Base Camp to GMVN Swargarohini, ensuring a smoother and more accessible journey for visitors. This move towards eco-friendly transportation aligns with the ongoing efforts to preserve the environment in the region.
To ensure accessible access to the Kedarnath temple for the elderly, children, women, and disabled devotees, as well as to promote environmental protection, a plan has been put in place to operate electric vehicles in the area. In the initial phase, two electric vehicles will be introduced. These vehicles will be specifically used to secure the Gaurikund-Kedarnath pedestrian route, running from the base camp to Swargarohini. By implementing this initiative, the temple authorities aim to provide a convenient and sustainable mode of transportation for pilgrims while safeguarding the sacred pedestrian pathway.
Pilgrims traveling from Gaurikund to Kedarnath often experience fatigue, especially until they reach Rudra Point. Even after reaching the base camp, the remaining two-kilometer distance to the temple seems much longer, despite the area being straight. To address this challenge, electric vehicles will be introduced in this part of the Dham. The plan is to trial the electric vehicles during this journey, and based on the results, an operational plan will be developed. This initiative aims to provide a more comfortable and convenient mode of transportation for pilgrims, reducing their fatigue and ensuring a smoother pilgrimage experience in Kedarnath.
All-terrain vehicle will also ride
Exciting news awaits devotees visiting Kedarnath, as they will soon have the option to ride all-terrain vehicles (ATVs). These vehicles will be operational from the Base Camp to Swargarohini and from the Helipad to Sangam, reaching the Aastha Path situated on the banks of the Saraswati River. Additionally, MI-17 helicopters will be used to transport pilgrims from the helipad to Shiv Udyan. It’s important to note that vehicles have played a significant role in the reconstruction efforts of Kedarnath.
Former President and PM have also ridden ATV
Distinguished personalities including former Presidents Pranab Mukherjee and Ram Nath Kovind, along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, have experienced riding All Terrain Vehicles (ATVs) upon reaching Kedarnath. Prime Minister Modi also utilized the ATV to inspect the reconstruction efforts in the area. The Nehru Mountaineering Institute deserves credit for introducing these vehicles to Kedarnath. Additionally, there are plans underway to operate electric vehicles in Kedarnath Dham, with finalization expected soon. These vehicles will operate from the Base Camp to Swargarohini. Moreover, ATVs will be deployed to facilitate the transportation of individuals in need to the Kedarpuri temple, ensuring easier access for those who require assistance.
