The World Heritage Valley of Flowers welcomed tourists today (Thursday) for the new season. However, an unusual challenge awaits visitors as heavy icebergs have formed along two sections of the footpath within the valley. Tourists will need to navigate through these icebergs, making their way carefully through the middle. Spanning across an expansive area of 87.50 sq km, the Valley of Flowers is renowned for its scenic beauty. It opens its gates to visitors annually from June 1, providing a captivating experience until October 31.
Every year during this period, the Valley of Flowers attracts numerous tourists from both India and abroad who seek to witness its awe-inspiring natural beauty. The valley boasts an impressive collection of approximately 600 flower species, creating a captivating sight for visitors. Among the many flowers that bloom in this picturesque location are Brahmakamal, Fenkamal, Bluepoppy, Marisius, Marigold, Golden Rod, Jasmine, Rowan, Helmet Plover, and Golden Lily. Each of these flowers adds its own charm and colors to the vibrant tapestry of the valley, making it a truly remarkable destination for nature enthusiasts.
Many types of wildlife are seen
In addition to its breathtaking flora, the Valley of Flowers is also home to a variety of rare wild animals. Visitors have the opportunity to spot magnificent creatures such as the elusive snow leopard, Himalayan black bear, monal, wild cat, and musk deer roaming freely in this natural haven. DFO Bibi Martolia of Nanda Devi National Park has confirmed that the valley will officially open its doors to tourists on June 1 To ensure safe passage, pathways have been carefully carved through the icebergs at two locations, allowing visitors to explore this remarkable wilderness.
