Expansion
The Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Development Authority (UCADA) has recently entered into contracts with nine aviation companies for operating the Kedarnath Heli service during the Chardham Yatra pilgrimage. These contracts have been awarded for a period of three years after the completion of a tender process. The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is expected to begin online booking of Heli service tickets from the first week of April, in preparation for the pilgrimage season starting on April 22nd. The government has set an upper limit on the fare that can be charged for the Heli service, and the aviation companies have adhered to this limit, ensuring that fares have not been increased arbitrarily over the last three years.
The fare for the Kedarnath Heli service from Guptkashi to Kedarnath has been reduced by Rs 10 on both sides, while the fare for the same service from Phata has been increased by Rs 780 and from Sirsi by Rs 818. The Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Development Authority (UCADA) has contracted nine companies for the Kedarnath Heli service operations for a period of three years, according to UCADA CEO C. Ravi Shankar. Online booking of tickets for the Heli service is expected to be launched soon, and IRCTC is currently testing their website for this purpose.
