Chardham Yatra 2023: Taxi-Maxi fare rates released afresh, read how much money will have to be paid

As the Char Dham Yatra approaches, the State Transport Authority has issued revised fare rates to cater to the rush of vehicles expected during the pilgrimage. According to RTO (Enforcement) Shailesh Tiwari, the fare for ordinary vehicles will now be charged at the rate of Rs 16 per km in plain areas and Rs 18 per km in hilly areas. This move is aimed at ensuring a smooth and hassle-free journey for the pilgrims, as well as providing better revenue for the vehicle operators. However, it is important to note that these revised rates are only applicable to ordinary vehicles and not to deluxe vehicles. The revised rates for deluxe vehicles priced between Rs 8 to 15 lakh have already been issued separately. Therefore, travelers should be aware of these changes while planning their trips and budgeting accordingly.

Similarly, operators of super luxury vehicles priced above this range can charge fares at the rate of Rs 35 per km in plain areas and Rs 40 per km in hilly areas. This move is expected to provide more options for the pilgrims to choose from and enjoy a comfortable travel experience. However, it is important to note that these revised fare rates are only applicable to luxury and super luxury vehicles and not to other categories of vehicles. The travelers are advised to keep these revised rates in mind while planning their travel arrangements for the Char Dham Yatra.

In addition to the per km fare, vehicle operators for Char Dham Yatra will be able to charge waiting fares ranging from Rs 50 to Rs 200. The waiting fare for general category vehicles is Rs 50 for the first two hours and Rs 50 for every subsequent hour after that. The waiting fare for deluxe vehicles is Rs 75 for the first two hours and Rs 100 for every hour thereafter, while for luxury vehicles, it is Rs 100 for the first two hours and Rs 150 for every hour thereafter. For super luxury vehicles, the waiting fare is Rs 125 for the first two hours and Rs 200 for every hour thereafter.

Will have to pay a minimum 80 km fare

As per the RTO (Enforcement), pilgrims traveling for less than 80 km will have to pay a minimum fare of 80 km. Waiting fare will not be charged for up to eight hours and no waiting fee will be charged even if the travel exceeds 200 km in a day. Furthermore, the fare per kilometer is fixed for distances more than 80 km.

Passengers will have to provide the list of fare rates

According to RTO Shailesh Tiwari, drivers will be required to provide a list of fares to the pilgrims, and rental rates will have to be visibly pasted on the vehicle. Any vehicle found to be charging more than the fixed fare will be seized. These measures are being taken to ensure that pilgrims are not overcharged and that drivers follow the prescribed fare rates.
