Uttarakhand Weather: Cold returned due to snowfall in the mountains, see this grand view of Badri-Kedar Dham
The weather in Uttarakhand has taken a sudden turn, with a cold spell sweeping through the region. This change in climate has caused the higher Himalayan regions, such as Badrinath-Kedarnath-Gangotri, to be coated in a blanket of snow, giving them a beautiful silver shine. While low-lying areas experienced intermittent rainfall, the hills around Gangotri Dham and Gaumukh witnessed snowfall. On Thursday, cold winds continued to blow in the plains, bringing relief from the heat. The Yamuna Valley also experienced light rain.

In the late evening, Mussoorie and Dehradun witnessed light rain, while the Meteorological Department predicted the possibility of thunder, light rain, and hailstorm in some districts of the state. The department has issued a yellow alert in several districts, including Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, Chamoli, Uttarkashi, and Rudraprayag, warning of heavy rainfall with heavy showers in isolated places.

Apart from the risk of landslides and rock falls in vulnerable areas, the accumulation of debris could lead to road blockages in some regions. The Meteorological Department has predicted this weather pattern between 18 to 21 April. Furthermore, heavy rainfall and hailstorms could harm plantations, horticulture, and standing crops.
