Char Dham Yatra 2023: Only healthy horses and mules will be registered in Kedarnath, tokens will be given to operators
Sunil Kumar Sharma, the Nodal Officer of Chardham Yatra and the RTO of the Transport Department, stated that after completing the necessary paperwork and obtaining a Green Card in Rishikesh or Haridwar, vehicle operators can accompany pilgrims on their journey without interruption. He highlighted that the previous practice of stopping and checking vehicles during the Chardham Yatra caused inconvenience to the pilgrims and wasted valuable time. When vehicles did not return to Haridwar or Rishikesh on schedule, it created a large gathering of pilgrims, leading to various problems. In response to these challenges, the new arrangement has been implemented.
In a meeting with the Divisional Commissioner to prepare for the Chardham Yatra, RTO Sharma raised the concern that in the event of a traffic jam, buses carrying pilgrims should be given priority and sent first. He emphasized the need for prioritizing the safe and efficient transport of pilgrims during the Yatra.
Differently colored stickers will be assigned for each individual trip during the Chardham Yatra.
According to RTO Sharma, different colored stickers will be provided for each trip taken by the buses during the Chardham Yatra. These stickers will allow the authorities to track how many times the bus has been on the Yatra. If a driver is found to have tampered with the removal of the sticker, they will face consequences in accordance with the regulations.
RTO Sharma has requested 400 vehicles from the Haldwani division and 200 vehicles from the Pauri division for the Chardham Yatra.
With two months to go before the start of the Chardham Yatra, various departments involved in the pilgrimage have begun their preparations. RTO Sharma, Nodal Officer of the Transport Department, has requested 400 vehicles from the Haldwani division and 200 vehicles from Pauri to ensure a smooth journey for the pilgrims. Additionally, the Uttarakhand Transport Corporation has been asked to provide 70 buses to prevent a shortage of vehicles during the travel season. According to RTO Sharma, there are currently 1065 vehicles available for the Chardham Yatra.
One hundred and fifty new buses will be put into service.
The Transport Federation has proposed the purchase of 150 new vehicles to prevent any shortage of buses during the Chardham Yatra. RTO Sharma stated that the federation has committed to operating these 150 newly acquired vehicles during the pilgrimage.
In addition to the vehicles from the federation, RTO Sharma mentioned that vehicles will also be sourced from other states such as Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, New Delhi, and Punjab.
RTO Sharma stated that even with the arrangements for a large number of vehicles if the demand for more vehicles arises due to an increase in the number of pilgrims, additional buses will be sourced from neighboring states such as Uttar Pradesh, New Delhi, Punjab, and Haryana. He mentioned that letters have been written to the officials in these states to make the necessary arrangements.
