Expansion

The Char Dham Yatra of 2023 has generated a lot of interest among pilgrims, and within just six days of the registration process opening, a staggering 1.27 lakh yatris have already signed up for the pilgrimage tour. Among them, more than 70 thousand have registered for the Kedarnath Dham Yatra, indicating the immense popularity of this holy shrine.

To facilitate the smooth registration process for the yatra, the tourism department has started two months in advance registration for pilgrims planning to visit the Char Dham. From February 21, pilgrims can register themselves for the Kedarnath and Badrinath Yatra, making it easier for them to plan their trip well in advance.

Pilgrims who are planning to visit the Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham for the Char Dham Yatra of 2023 will have to wait a little longer to register. The registration process for these two holy shrines will begin only after the date of the opening of the doors is announced.

Meanwhile, the registration process for the Kedarnath and Badrinath Dham has already started, and according to the Deputy Director of Tourism Yogendra Gangwar, more than 1.27 lakh pilgrims have already registered for the pilgrimage tour. Out of this number, 70 thousand people have registered for the Kedarnath Dham and 57 thousand for the Badrinath Dham.

Tourism department will put up signboards in seven languages

To make the Char Dham Yatra of 2023 more convenient and accessible for pilgrims from different parts of the country, the tourism department has decided to put up signboards in seven languages across the city. The District Tourism Officer has written to the Garhwal Commissioner seeking permission to install 50 signboards in the first phase, which will contain information for the convenience of passengers coming from other states.

Currently, the signboards in the city only contain information in Hindi or English, which makes it difficult for people from South India to read the guidelines related to travel. With the new signboards in place, pilgrims from states such as Gujarat, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Punjab will be able to access the information they need in their native language.

In an effort to make the Char Dham Yatra of 2023 more accessible and convenient for passengers from different parts of the country, District Tourism Officer Jaspal Singh Chauhan has announced that signboards will be installed in five additional languages. These signboards will be in Tamil, Telugu, Oriya, Gujarati, and Bengali and will be placed near the registration counters and at crowded places in the city.
