The holy month Sawan will start on 22 July. Devotees of Shiva will start in large numbers with Kawad from Haridwar carrying Ganga Jal. Huge Shiv devotees visit Haridwar from Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and local Uttarakhand. Every day Kawadiya carries forward Ganga Jal from Har Ki Pauri. All vehicles are stopped for 2-3 days before Sawan Shivraatri due to the heavy rush of devotees.
