Summary

Kedarnath Heli Service Update: The Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Development Authority (UCADA) has recently initiated a tender process for the Kedarnath Heli Service from Guptkashi. Two companies, namely Trans Bharat and Aryan Aviation, have filled out tender applications for this service. This tender is a significant step towards improving air connectivity to the holy shrine of Kedarnath, which is an important pilgrimage site for millions of devotees. With the tender process now underway, it is expected that the Kedarnath Heli Service from Guptkashi will soon become operational, providing a much-needed boost to the region’s tourism sector.

Expansion

The Kedarnath Heli service from Guptkashi, which is an important part of the Chardham Yatra, has become cheaper by Rs.10 this year, with passengers now having to pay Rs. 7740 for both ways. This reduction in fare has come after the Uttarakhand government set an upper limit on the fare in the tender process, which was filled by two companies, Trans Bharat and Aryan Aviation. This limit was put in place to prevent Heli companies from arbitrarily increasing the fare. However, initially, only one company had filled the tender for Guptkashi, prompting UCADA to call for applications again. The tenders were opened on Friday, and the fare for the Guptkashi to Kedarnath Heli service was fixed at Rs. 7740. Meanwhile, the fare for the Heli service from Phata has increased by Rs. 780, and from Sirsi, it has increased by Rs. 818. Despite these increases, the reduction in fare for the Guptkashi to Kedarnath Heli service is expected to be a boon for devotees and tourists alike.

IRCTC launches website for booking

IRCTC, the Indian Railway Catering, and Tourism Corporation has launched a dedicated website for booking tickets for the Kedarnath Heli service. The website, heliyatra.irctc.co.in, is currently undergoing a trial, and though the booking of tickets has not yet started, it is expected to begin by the first week of April. The launch of this website is a significant step towards improving the convenience and accessibility of the Kedarnath Heli service for tourists and devotees, who will now be able to book their tickets online, avoiding the hassle of physical ticket booking. Once operational, the Kedarnath Heli service is expected to be a popular mode of transportation, providing a comfortable and time-efficient way to reach the holy shrine.

Helipad and ticket counter area will be hackproof

To prevent fraud in the name of Heli tickets for the Kedarnath Yatra, concrete arrangements will be made to ensure the security of the helipad area and ticket counter area. Inspector General of Police Garhwal Zone Karan Singh Nagnyal has announced that these areas will be hack-proofed, and booking of tickets can be done only from the officially approved website. Other websites will not be allowed to work in these areas to prevent fraudulent activities. Nagnyal made these announcements during his visit to Rudraprayag, where he conducted an annual inspection of the Police Office, Police Line, Kotwali, and other branches. He also emphasized the need for better traffic arrangements from Rudraprayag to Gaurikund during the Chardham Yatra, with a special focus on the Kedarnath Yatra. Adequate security arrangements will be put in place from the helipad to the towns and cities to ensure a safe and comfortable Yatra for all devotees and tourists.

To prevent cybercrime and fraud in the name of Heli tickets, the helipad area and ticket counter area for the Kedarnath Yatra will be hack-proofed. Inspector General of Police Garhwal Zone Karan Singh Nagnyal emphasized that avoiding greed and dishonesty is the best way to prevent cybercrime. In addition to this, to improve the police system during the yatra, a police team will be called from the plains and Kumaon divisions, and a framework is being prepared for this purpose. During his inspection, Nagnyal also instructed the police personnel to work with positive energy, emphasizing the importance of their role in ensuring a safe and successful yatra for all pilgrims. With these measures in place, the authorities hope to create a secure and hassle-free environment for all those participating in the Kedarnath Yatra.
