Char Dham Yatra 2023: Facility… Mobile network will not get stuck, WiFi zones will be built in all four Dhams

Summary

The telecom companies have not been able to provide complete network coverage in the four Dhams, leading to connectivity issues for pilgrims. Some areas have better signal strength compared to others, causing inconvenience to those undertaking the pilgrimage.

Expansion

During the upcoming Chardham Yatra, pilgrims will have access to WiFi facilities, which will enable them to avoid any connectivity issues caused by heavy traffic on mobile networks. The availability of WiFi will also provide passengers with additional conveniences, such as the ability to live stream the Chardham Yatra. This development is expected to significantly enhance the overall experience for pilgrims by providing seamless connectivity and access to important information.

Despite efforts made by various telecom companies, network coverage in the four Dhams is not yet complete. While some areas have better connectivity, others have weaker or no signal at all. This lack of consistent coverage has resulted in significant inconvenience for pilgrims undertaking the Chardham Yatra. As a result, many have faced difficulties in staying connected with their loved ones and accessing essential information.

To ensure that pilgrims have uninterrupted connectivity during the Chardham Yatra, the government has taken steps to establish a WiFi zone in the area. The Director of Information Technology and Development Agency (ITDA), Nitika Khandelwal, has invited proposals from private companies to provide lease lines and create WiFi zones in the four Dhams. It is worth noting that in 2018, the administration had already provided free WiFi facilities at nine locations along the Kedarnath Yatra route. The new initiative is expected to further improve the connectivity experience for pilgrims undertaking the Chardham Yatra.

Weather updates will be available on mobile

Weather conditions are a major challenge for pilgrims during the Chardham Yatra. After the month of June, the government makes arrangements according to weather forecasts and sometimes even stops the pilgrimage due to very bad weather. However, to ensure that pilgrims are well-informed about weather conditions, this year, those who register for the pilgrimage by providing their mobile numbers will receive regular updates about the weather on their mobile devices. This will help pilgrims to plan their journey accordingly and avoid any adverse weather-related issues.
