The number of attendees for an upcoming meeting was uncertain, leading to a protest by Teerthpurohit Mahapanchayat. To address the issue, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami instructed Secretary Tourism Sachin Kurve to hold discussions with all stakeholders involved.
Expansion
On Tuesday, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami conducted a review meeting to discuss the preparations for Chardham Yatra. He emphasized the need for all departments to complete their preparations before the start of the yatra. To ensure a smooth Badrinath Yatra, a team from BRO will be stationed in Joshimath, which is prone to landslides, to address any road-related issues promptly. Additionally, a disaster management control room will be established in Joshimath to facilitate the successful conduct of the yatra.
Chief Minister Dhami has instructed all concerned departments to identify the shortcomings of the previous year’s Chardham Yatra and prioritize the provision of better facilities for devotees this time. Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj has further emphasized the need for departments to complete their preparations in a timely manner. The Public Works Department, National Highway, and BRO have been directed to repair all roads on the Chardham route before the yatra commences. The focus is on ensuring a convenient and hassle-free experience for all passengers.
Number of devotees could not be decidedÂ
The number of devotees permitted for the upcoming Chardham Yatra has been a subject of debate. Despite the tourism department setting daily capacity limits for each destination, opposition from the Teerthpurohit Mahapanchayat has led Chief Minister Dhami to instruct Secretary Tourism Sachin Kurve to hold talks with all stakeholders. Meanwhile, on the first day of online registration, a record 31,000 devotees signed up for darshan at Badrinath and Kedarnath. The government has now decided to determine the number of pilgrims allowed after consulting with all parties involved.
Pay attention to the arrangement of cleanliness and parking.
Chief Minister Dhami has directed officials to make adequate arrangements for parking vehicles along the Char Dham Yatra routes, including rest facilities for drivers. Emphasis has also been placed on maintaining cleanliness throughout the pilgrimage, including pedestrian routes. To this end, provisions for drinking water and toilets at petrol pumps are to be ensured. Additionally, signage and crash barriers are to be installed as needed for safe travel. The aim is to ensure a comfortable and safe experience for all pilgrims.
Appeal to spend five percent of your expenditure on local products
Chief Minister Dhami has highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal to devotees to allocate five percent of their travel expenses towards purchasing local products, thereby promoting the region’s economy. Officials have been directed to identify which local products can be promoted during the Chardham Yatra. This move seeks to encourage the growth of local industries while providing visitors with unique cultural experiences.
The Kapat of Chardham will open on this day
According to Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj, the Chardham Yatra will commence on April 22nd, with the opening of the doors to Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham in keeping with tradition on the day of Akshaya Tritiya. The doors of Kedarnath Dham will open on April 25th, and Badrinath on April 27th. These dates have been confirmed to allow for proper preparation by all departments involved in the pilgrimage.
Register in four ways
Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj announced that there will be four types of registration available for pilgrims going on the Chardham Yatra. These include online registration, registration through an app, on-call registration, and registration through WhatsApp. Online registrations began today, and the tourism department’s portal will be open from 7 am. Pilgrims can also register through the department’s website, registrationandtouristcare.uk.gov.in, or by using the WhatsApp number 8394833833 or the toll-free number 1364. These options are designed to make registration as accessible and convenient as possible for pilgrims.

According to Tourism and Public Works Minister Satpal Maharaj, an app will be developed to monitor the condition of the roads during the Chardham Yatra. He has instructed senior officials of the Public Works Department to oversee this initiative. Additionally, JCB and Pokeland machines will be deployed immediately after road closures for any necessary repairs. Any officials found to be negligent in their duties will face consequences.
Token system for queue management at Char Dham
To ensure the convenience of Chardham Yatris, Tourism, and Public Works Minister Satpal Maharaj has instructed all departments to prepare for the implementation of the slot token system for queue management in Char Dhams. In a recent meeting with the Chief Minister, Maharaj has given clear instructions to the Public Works Department, National Highway, and BRO to repair and improve all roads on the Chardham route on time. Maharaj expects a large number of devotees to visit Chardham this year and has instructed the setup of a control room for passenger registration and travel-related information. Additionally, the Public Works Department has been tasked with creating an app to monitor the roads and identify places where roads are most often blocked, deploying JCB and Pokeland machines for immediate improvement. The minister has also given instructions for the arrangement of recovery vans, bulldozers, and mobile numbers of supervisors and drivers.
