New Kedarnath token system: 1200 devotees can visit in an hour, reducing waiting times.
The administration and the temple committee in charge of Badrinath-Kedarnath have devised a plan to manage the crowds at the holy site by introducing a token system. The aim is to address the issue of long queues that passengers have to endure, as the new system will allow them to avoid standing in line for hours.
To manage the large crowds during the upcoming yatra at Kedarnath, a token system has been put in place to regulate travel arrangements and ensure the orderly conduct of darshan. Under this new system, only 1200 devotees will be permitted to have darshan in an hour. This measure has been implemented to avoid the chaos and overcrowding that often accompanies such events, and to ensure that everyone has a safe and peaceful experience while visiting the holy site.

In order to improve crowd management at the Badrinath-Kedarnath Dham and to address the issue of long queues, a token system has been introduced this year. The system will operate on a first-come-first-served basis, with devotees receiving tokens upon their arrival. Each token will correspond to a specific hour-long slot for darshan, with the number and time of the darshan clearly stated on the token. The officials have stated that this new system will make it much easier for devotees to have darshan of Baba Kedar, with only 1200 tokens being issued per hour. This will help to ensure that the experience is peaceful and orderly for everyone involved.
If the temple is open for 12 hours of religious darshan, the new token system will allow 14,400 devotees to visit during this period. However, officials may adjust the number of tokens issued based on factors such as the weather and other conditions during the yatra, as well as the expected number of pilgrims. It should be noted that in the previous year, over 1.5 million pilgrims visited the Dham, highlighting the need for effective crowd management measures to ensure the safety and comfort of all visitors.
Token number will be announced through a loudspeaker
To ensure that the new token system runs smoothly at Kedarnath, tokens will be distributed on an hourly basis. Counters will be set up 200 meters before the temple to facilitate the distribution process and avoid any potential problems. Officials will also establish specific times for token distribution to ensure that the process is as efficient and organized as possible. These measures should help to alleviate the difficulties often associated with large crowds and ensure that everyone has a positive and peaceful experience while visiting the holy site.
Devotees from different provinces of the country do
To further improve the experience for pilgrims visiting Kedarnath, both online and offline bookings will be available for Baba Kedar’s Mahabhishek, Rudrabhishek, and other pujas and aarti during the yatra. Similar to last year, a designated time will be established for these worship services to ensure that they do not conflict with other activities and to prevent any issues for visitors during darshan. These measures should make it easier and more convenient for pilgrims to participate in these important rituals and enhance their spiritual experience while at the Dham.
The implementation of a token system at Kedarnath this year is intended to make the yatra more systematic and accessible for pilgrims. Tokens will be issued on an hourly basis and will include a serial number and designated time for darshan. This measure will help to ensure that the yatra is conducted successfully and will allow officials to keep track of the correct number of visitors. By regulating the flow of visitors through the temple, the token system should help to prevent overcrowding and create a more peaceful and spiritual experience for all those who come to pay their respects to Baba Kedar.
