This year, the revered Kedarnath Dham Yatra witnessed an impressive turnout of devotees, with a record-breaking number reaching Baba’s divine presence. Notably, many pilgrims embarked on their spiritual journey through helicopter services, allowing them more accessible access to the sacred site. Approximately 59,645 passengers had the privilege of witnessing Baba’s darshan by availing of the Heli service. However, with the impending arrival of the monsoon season in Kedarnath, four helicopter companies have ceased their operations and temporarily halted their services, securing their equipment and preparations for the inclement weather ahead. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In anticipation of the approaching rainy season in Kedarnath, four helicopter companies have chosen to suspend their services and make necessary preparations. They have securely packed away their equipment, symbolized by tying their sacks. It is a common practice for heli services to come to a complete halt during the rainy season in the region. However, it is worth noting that last year, Himalaya Heli defied this trend by continuing its operations throughout the rainy season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the initial phase of this year’s yatra, an impressive number of 59,000 passengers availed of the heli service to reach the revered Kedar Baba<\/a><\/em><\/strong>. However, it is unfortunate to note that Crystal Aviation, one of the heli services, had to remain closed due to a tragic accident that occurred at the helipad at the start of the journey. The loss of life in the accident led to the suspension of Crystal Aviation’s operations, casting a somber shadow over the otherwise bustling pilgrimage. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Four Heli companies stopped their services<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

With the imminent arrival of the monsoon season, four helicopter companies, namely Pawan Hans, Crystal Aviation, Thambi, and Global Aviation have decided to halt their services starting from Thursday. This proactive measure is taken in consideration of the safety of passengers and the adverse weather conditions expected during the rainy season. Heli services to Kedarnath Dham traditionally resume in the month of September, when the weather clears up after the monsoon rains, allowing devotees to embark on their spiritual journeys once again. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently, nine companies have been granted permission to operate in Kedarnath Dham. Among them, Crystal Aviation was authorized to fly from two helipads. However, a tragic incident occurred even before the commencement of the yatra, resulting in the unfortunate death of an official caused by a rotor blade of Crystal Aviation’s helicopter at the Kedarnath helipad. As a consequence, the services provided by Crystal Aviation were promptly discontinued following the incident. This unfortunate event led to a halt in their operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a result of the aforementioned incident, the number of heli companies providing services for the yatra was reduced to eight. These include Aryan Aviation and Trans Bharat operating from Guptkashi, Pawan Hans, Thumbi Aviation, Global Vectra, and Kistral from Phata, and Himalayan Heli, Kestral Aviation, and Arrow Aviation from the Shersi sector. These remaining heli companies continue to offer their services to facilitate the pilgrimage, ensuring that devotees have options to reach their sacred destination despite the setback caused by the discontinuation of Crystal Aviation’s operations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Anil Upreti, the management representative of Pawan Hans Aviation, the heli services have been temporarily suspended starting from Thursday due to the onset of rainy weather. The decision to halt the services is taken into consideration the safety concerns posed by the rain. However, Upreti mentioned that the services will resume once again in September when the weather improves. During the initial phase of this travel season, a remarkable total of 10,521 flights were conducted, facilitating the journey of 59,645 passengers who were able to reach Baba’s darshan through the heli service. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
