Winter Chardham Yatra is a historic initiative in Uttarakhand
Today on Wednesday, Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati of Jyotishpeeth started the winter pilgrimage to the Chardhams of Uttarakhand with the worship of Ganga in Haridwar. First of all, he reached Kharsali, the winter worship place of Mother Yamuna, and also participated in the evening puja and aarti. Shankaracharya will leave for Uttarkashi on Thursday. The yatra will conclude on January 3 2024 in Haridwar. This is happening for the first time in human history
This is the first occasion in the history of Adi guru Shankaracharya tradition when the Acharya of Jyotishpeeth is undertaking a pilgrimage to the places of worship of the Chardham Yatra. Describing Shankaracharya’s visit as historical, the Chief Minister had said that his pilgrimage will promote winter travel to Chardhams.
