The miracle happened after the opening of Badrinath Dham Kapat, Is this a good sign for the country?
On Thursday morning at 7.10 am, amidst snow and flower showers, the doors of Badrinath Dham were opened in Vrish Lagna. The atmosphere was filled with the sounds of Vedic chanting and the chanting of Jai Badrinath. However, after the doors were opened, an event occurred that was nothing short of a miracle. The priests on the pilgrimage consider it to be an auspicious sign for the country.
Upon opening the doors of Badrinath Dham, fresh ghee was discovered on the ghee blanket that covered Lord Badrinath. The Dharmadhikari of Badrinath, Radhakrishna Thapliyal, noted that the appearance of fresh ghee on the blanket is a sign of prosperity for the country. It is worth mentioning that last year, fresh ghee was also found on the blanket. The fact that the ghee did not dry up despite the cold temperature and heavy snowfall is considered to be a miraculous occurrence.
According to religious customs, when the Kapat (doors) of Badrinath Dham is closed, Lord Badrinath is covered with a blanket that has been dipped in ghee. This special blanket is prepared by the women of Mana village, and it is a tradition for girls and brides to complete the blanket’s preparation within a day.
On the day when the ghee blanket is prepared for Lord Badrinath, girls, and women fast as part of the religious tradition. This blanket, known as a Ghee Kambal, is made by soaking a woolen blanket in ghee. Once the blanket is ready, it is draped over Lord Badrinath and remains there until the doors of the temple are opened after winter. When the doors are opened, the ghee-soaked blanket is the first item to be removed.
The state of the ghee on Lord Badrinath’s blanket is believed to be an omen of the prosperity of the country in the coming year. If the ghee on the blanket is not too dry, then it is considered a sign of good fortune and prosperity for the country. However, if the ghee on the blanket dries up or decreases in quantity, it is thought to indicate the possibility of drought or excessive rain in the country that year.
On the day that the Kapat (doors) of Badrinath Dham was opened, the Mahabhishek Puja began at 11 o’clock in the morning. The first puja was performed in the name of the Prime Minister, followed by a second puja in the name of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. After these pujas, the worship ceremony at the Dham was duly completed. Prior to the puja ceremonies, pilgrims were able to see Nirvana (without makeup) at Badrinath until 10:30 in the morning. At 3 pm, Bhog (offering of food) was presented to Lord Badrinath.
